A comprehensive range of resources (eg. blood monitoring machines, patient education leaflets, and books) are available to carry out our diabetic care programme.
We also maintain professional links with the local diabetologists, opticians, chiropodist and dieticians, as they play an important role in diabetic care.
All diabetics are invited for an annual examination at the clinic if this has not already occurred at the hospital. Screening for diabetes is carried out for patients at risk.

Diabetes Management
As a practice, we are committed to ensuring that all of our diabetic patients are receiving the best possible care and that we are prescribing effectively. We are currently reviewing patients who are monitoring their blood glucose (sugar) levels, using a blood glucose meter, as part of their diabetes management.
We are looking to rationalise our prescribing of blood glucose testing strips in accordance with local NHS guidelines and with this in mind, we would like you to try the new GlucoRx Nexus meter, which you can collect free of charge from the surgery at your own convenience.
Your computer records have already been amended to include the GlucoRx Nexus strips and GlucoRx lancets, so the next time you request a prescription for strips or lancets it will be the GlucoRx brand that will be supplied.
- In the interest of reducing waste, please finish using your current stock of strips and lancets before commencing with the new ones.
